The term Grim Reaper for this depiction of death was first used in the middle of the 19th century. Halloween is a holiday in which people usually wear scary costumes and we can agree that there are only a small number of things that are scarier than death itself.

Selecting a Halloween costume is a personal choice. Age and gender are some of the main factors that will determine what type of Halloween costume is best. Different teens like different things so I've created a short list of popular Halloween costumes.

Skeleton

Now here's a Teen classic. Both younger and older teens like the skeleton costume because it's scary and fun. A typical skeleton costume includes a completely black jumpsuit with painted skeleton bones on it. A wicked looking skeleton mask will complete the outfit. If you want to make a more realistic costume you can find fake bones and attach them to the costume.

Zombie

It seems that zombies have reached the highest level of popularity in the last few years. So, if you choose a zombie costume you will definitely be trendy. Making a zombie costume is quite easy and you can choose many different types of zombie costumes - zombie doctor, zombie road worker, zombie hunter, zombie teacher - the list is endless. All you need is regular clothes that you won't wear again because you need to make them look dirty and ragged.

Ghost

Nowadays, just wearing a plain white sheet over your body doesn't quite cut it in the ghostly department. Instead, you're going to have to be a bit more creative.

A good question to ask yourself is this: What sort of person was your ghost before they died? This will help bring some variety to this often over-done costume. Were they a painter, a chef, a soldier? Even better, you can combine two kinds of creepy costumes.
